1. Who we are
Teeny Tiny Mimi (“the app”) is made and published by Xapner (“we”, “us”). We are the data controller for the limited processing described here.
This policy explains what happens to information when your child uses the app. It applies to the iOS and Android versions and to this website.
2. What we collect
We do not collect personal information about you or your child.
Specifically, the app does not ask for, and we never receive:
- Names, email addresses, phone numbers or postal addresses
- Dates of birth or age
- Photographs, video or voice recordings
- Location data
- Contacts, calendar entries or files
- Login details — there is no account to log in to
We operate no servers or accounts for this app. There is no database of users, because there are no users to record. Lessons, pictures, sounds and the voice are all built into the app itself.
3. What is stored on the device
The app saves a few small settings locally so it behaves the way your child left it. This never leaves the device and we cannot see it:
- Whether sound and background music are on or off
- A counter used to space out advertisements
- Whether the ad-free upgrade has been purchased
- Drawings saved from the colouring section, kept in the app’s own storage
Deleting the app removes all of it. There is nothing to request from us, because we hold nothing.
4. Third-party services
Some parts of the app rely on services run by other companies. When those parts are used, the third party may receive technical information such as a device identifier, IP address, device model and operating system version, in line with their own policies rather than ours.
- Google AdMob — serves advertisements. Google Privacy Policy
- YouTube (a Google service) — plays the songs in the video section. Google Privacy Policy
- Apple App Store / Google Play Billing — handle any purchase. Apple · Google
We do not use analytics, crash reporting, advertising attribution or social media software development kits in this app.
5. Children’s privacy
This app is directed to children and is designed to comply with the United States Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the Google Play Families policy, the Apple Kids Category requirements, and the UK and EU rules on children’s data including the Age Appropriate Design Code and Article 8 of the UK/EU GDPR.
In practice that means:
- We collect no personal information from children, so there is nothing for which verifiable parental consent would be required.
- Every advertising request is marked as child-directed and under the age of consent, which disables personalised advertising and remarketing.
- Advertising content is limited to a general audiences rating.
- There is no behavioural profiling of your child.
- There is no chat, messaging, user content or social feature of any kind.
- Settings, the rating prompt, feedback and every link that leaves the app sit behind a grown-up gate — a button that must be pressed and held steadily, intended to be beyond a preschool-aged child.
If you believe a child has somehow provided us personal information, contact support@xapner.com and we will delete anything we hold and confirm once done.
6. Advertising
The app may display advertisements supplied by Google AdMob to keep it free. Where advertising is shown:
- It is always non-personalised. It is not based on your child’s interests, behaviour or history.
- It is restricted to a general audiences (G) content rating.
- Banners appear only on browsing screens, never during an activity where a child is tapping or dragging, to reduce accidental taps.
- Full-screen advertisements are infrequent and never appear immediately after the app opens.
Google may still process limited technical data to serve and measure non-personalised advertising. See how Google uses data from apps that use its services. Buying the ad-free upgrade, where offered, stops advertisements entirely.
7. Purchases
Any optional purchase is handled entirely by Apple or Google. We never see or store payment details. We receive only a confirmation that a purchase succeeded, which the app records on the device as a simple yes-or-no flag.
Purchases are made from the settings area, which is behind the grown-up gate. A child cannot complete a purchase by tapping alone. Refunds are handled by the store you bought from, under its own policy.
8. Video content
Videos in the app come from two places, both hosted on YouTube. The song and learning sections play a fixed, hand-picked list. The Teeny Tiny Mimi section lists the videos published on our own channel, read from that channel's public feed so it stays current without an app update.
In both cases there is no search, no recommendations and no way to browse away from those lists inside the app. Your child cannot reach videos we did not put there.
Playing a video means YouTube receives a request from the device and applies its own privacy terms. Videos are embedded, and we do not control advertising or related content that YouTube may present. This is the only part of the app that needs an internet connection; everything else works offline.
9. Permissions the app uses
- Internet access — only for song videos and, where enabled, advertisements. Every lesson works offline.
- Storage — to save drawings your child makes in the colouring section.
The app does not request the camera, the microphone, location, contacts, the photo library or the address book.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of personal data, or to object to it being processed.
Because we hold no personal data about you or your child, there is generally nothing for us to retrieve or erase. Anything the app has saved is on your device and is removed when the app is deleted.
For data held by Google in connection with advertising or YouTube, please use Google’s own controls, or contact us and we will point you to the right place.
11. Security and data transfers
Since we do not transmit or store your data, there is no server of ours for it to be exposed on. Information handled by the third parties named above may be processed in countries other than yours, including the United States, under their own safeguards.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles data we will update this page and change the “last updated” date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the app’s store listing. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
